Ever read a tweet and hope there was an error.
No, not another person from my childhood. I wanted independent
confirmation so I checked the New York Times and CNN on Twitter and
then it appeared Carrie Fisher had passed to her great reward. Mind
you as I was seeking confirmation I started bawling like a baby.
Why was I crying so hard for a woman I never knew or met?
I only can guess that I'm seeing my childhood drift to the great
beyond. I'm entering that age where more of the people I care about
are no longer on earth.
My best memory of Carrie Fisher was Princess Leia. Being a little
girl when Star Wars came out meant I was Princess Leia more than once
for Halloween and since I was also the only girl in my neighborhood,
plus I had long brown hair that my mom could easily whip into the
required hairdo, I got to be Princess Leia whenever the boys wanted
to play Star Wars.(usually a teddy bear got to play Chewbacca, in
case you wanted to know). Fun days, ah...
Thank-you Carrie Fisher for making a little 7 year old girl
extremely popular for at least a few summers.
May the force be with you.
vrrrm...vrrm...(the best lightsaber salute I can come up with)
